Gustave Caillebotte - Parisian Impressionist with a Passion for Water

Here, the Kunsthalle Bremen presented one of the most important personalities of Impressionism to German viewers for the first time: Gustave Caillebotte (1848-1894). As an artist, Gustave Caillebotte created significant works, as a collector he was among the first to support his young artist friends such as Monet, Renoir, Pissarro and Sisley. The special themes of this exhibition were glittering waves, rowing, sailing and life on the water. A total of fifty paintings were shown, including rarely exhibited works from private collections and the artist's own design drawings for the construction of boats.
